The Program

Overview: My first program that I will be following is the very trendy and now popular flexible dieting or better known as If It Fits Your Macros (IIFYM). I am working with my personal trainer to work through a personalized nutrition program to cut body fat. To track my progress I did an initial DEXA scan. This measures your lean muscle mass and fat tissue in several portions of your body. My body composition results showed I currently sit at 27.4% body fat. Detailed results can be found below.

Nutrition: my starting total calorie count and macros for the first week will be 1750 total calories and a split of 35% carbs/35% protein/ 30% fat. More on macros overall can be found at the link below:

I’m trying to utilize all the food I have available through work to meet these nutrition goals.

Workouts: I will be also starting a program where I heavy lift twice a week with my trainer (upper and lower body) and doing Barry’s Bootcamp three times a week. I go regularly now and will be doing Barry’s Arms and Abs double floor (no running) along with Barry’s Butt and Legs double floor and one full body day with running. I will walk to work (about 1.5 miles each way) to get my LISS in. I also plan on throwing in a couple Bodyrok classes to do an active recovery. It is also a goal of mine to become a Pilates instructor in the new year.

About Me: Meghan From Maine

I wanted to start out this blog by introducing myself summer camp style with an alliteration: I am Meghan from Maine. I was born and raised in Maine on your classic American diet of chicken tenders, pizza, steak and potatoes. I played sports in high school and then discovered alcohol in college where beer pong became my primary sport. Since graduating college I have been trying more and more to transition into a more balanced lifestyle between my first job traveling Monday-Thursday as a Big4 Technology consultant to my current job at a big Tech company.

I started this as both a way to share my journey and to hold me accountable and track my progress. What better way to find balance than adding one more thing to your already busy schedule? Am I right?
